Welcome to the FOLS page!
We aim to provide you with information on all the activities the FOLS undertake in support of Layer de la Haye Primary School and its pupils, as well as keeping you up-to-date on our latest news, events and fundraising plans.
In addition, we have set out some information below about the FOLS – which we hope will give you a better understanding of who we are and how it works:-
So who are the FOLS?
The Friends of Layer School (FOLS) is a Charity run by parents/guardians of children attending Layer de la Haye Primary School. The Teachers have a rota system and a Teacher/Head Teacher will attend various meetings throughout the year. Members are entitled to attend meetings, vote on proposals and make suggestions for spending or raising funds. We usually meet once a term.

Its Aim
The main objective of the FOLS is, in partnership with the school and parents, to enhance the education and well-being of the pupils by providing resources and activities for the children, which is funded on the back of wonderful community events such as the Easter Egg Hunt, Summer Fete and Christmas Bazaar.
Core Activities
The FOLS play an extremely important role in the life of the school and assists it in a number of ways:
- FUNDRAISING for an Outside Classroom
- COMMUNICATION with PARENTS
- LINKS with the WIDER COMMUNITY
Delivering on this broad remit of activities is only possible through the commitment and enthusiasm of our committee members and great band of volunteers, who all work tirelessly in support of the school.
Getting involved
The FOLS Committee always welcomes and encourages new members, to ensure there is a breadth of representative opinions from all year groups and also to capitalise on the talents, skill sets and experience of our parents and staff.
Meeting new people, knowing more about what goes on in Layer de la Haye School, having a say in how money should be allocated and making a difference to the pupils experience at the School are just some of the benefits you will gain by being involved with the FOLS.
Our meetings are open to everyone, so why not come along to one and listen to the range of topics being discussed – you can contribute as much or as little as you wish and choose to get involved as much or as little as you wish. The meetings are informal and relaxed. Dates of forthcoming meetings will be published on the website and announced in our Newsletters.
If you would like any other information regarding the FOLS, are interested in joining the committee or have suggestions or ideas about fundraising, please do not hesitate to contact any of the FOLS team.
