The Governing Body of Layer-de-la-Haye Church of England Primary School
The Board of Governors at Layer-de-la-Haye Church of England Primary School has three core functions:
- To ensure the vision, ethos, and strategic direction for the School is clear and upheld
- To make sure school leaders are acting responsibly for the education and progress of pupils, and that staff are managed effectively
- To scrutinise the school’s financial performance and ensure funds are managed effectively
Our full Governing Body meets once a term. We have two main Committees; the Finance, Personnel and Premises Committee (FPP) and Curriculum Committee. The FPP Committee meets termly and is responsible for financial policy and planning, financial monitoring, maintenance and development of premises including Health and Safety and ensuring effective staffing. The Curriculum Committee meets termly and is responsible for curriculum planning and delivery, assessment, improvement and engagement. Other committees such as Pay and Exclusions are constituted as required.
Our Mission Statement: A Mission Statement defines an organisation's reason for existing. The Instrument of Government, for Layer de la Haye Church of England Primary School states: "The school aims to serve its community by providing an education of the highest quality within the context of Christian belief and practice. It encourages an understanding of the meaning and significance of faith and promotes Christian values through the experience it offers to all its pupils."
Our Vision Statement : Our Vision Statement focuses on what the organisation will look like in the future, describing what pupils will leave the school knowing, being and having done. The Vision Layer de la Haye Church of England Primary School states: “At Layer Primary School we aim to provide high-quality learning in an encouraging Christian environment, enabling all children to flourish across the curriculum. Through our teaching of the Christian Values, we aim for all children to aspire to be the best they can be in the wider world, helping them to develop an enthusiasm for learning and persevering in the face of challenge, making positive choices about how they live and behave. We Learn. We Care. We Succeed”
To achieve these goals, the Board monitors:
- The delivery of a balanced and broad curriculum through high-quality teaching
- The impact of teaching on pupil progress and achievement
- The management of the premises and financial resources
- Safeguarding measures
- Staff well-being and morale
- Pupil well-being, resilience, and behaviour
- Provision for SEND, Pupil Premium and disadvantaged pupils
- Engagement and feedback from stakeholders
